HomeExchange est recertifiée B Corp !

It’s official, HomeExchange has just updated its certification B Corp 🥳 Scored 100.9, an increase of 10.7 points since first certification in 2022! We’re taking this opportunity to take you behind the scenes of our first three years as a B Corp: our progress, our challenges, and our future.

B Corp: A movement of companies that demonstrate high levels of social, social and environmental commitment

A brief introduction to B Corporations

The B Corp movement was born in the United States in 2006 with a simple idea: if a company measured its success not just by its profits; Impact on society and the planet ?

Today, B Corporations are both international label and a global community More than 10,000 companies in more than 100 countries share this belief.

At HomeExchange, becoming and remaining a B Corp (because you have to show you are making progress to stay certified!) is a Deliver on our promisessee what can be improved and most importantly be part of a collective movement towards a more responsible world.

The label is based on a demanding questionnaire (over 200 questions!) that evaluates companies based on the following criteria: five main categories :

  • governance,
  • collaborator,
  • Community,
  • environment,
  • client.

Every response must have a reason concrete evidence : Internal policies, data, processes, contracts…no promises, just what the company actually does.

In addition to these categories, B Corp also evaluates business model (The way companies put impact at the heart of their business models).

B Corp: A Continuous Improvement Method

Major projects implemented

The ethos of the B Corp movement is continuous progress: the opportunity to step back and reflect on the progress we have made since our first brand.

Over the past three years, we have:

  • Improved measurement of environmental and social impactsan ambitious impact study with our partners OuiAct and Goodwill.
  • Becoming mature on corporate social responsibility issuesin particular by conducting our first significance analysis (more details about this project are presented later).
  • Raised awareness in our community : including educational content, the development of our website (housing accessible by public transport, comparison of CO2 emissions of transport modes, eco-responsible equipment, etc.), promotion of sustainable tourism operations, responsible travel charters… and much more!
  • Make our work environment more inclusiveby creating a Center for Diversity and Inclusion, focusing on training and awareness, by conducting our first DE&I survey
  • Improve our governance practicescompensation practices incorporated into impact standards, our first impact report, actions to strengthen cybersecurity and transparency.

That’s not all! We also launched philanthropic initiatives, improved HR policies, launched a collective around sharing… and much more!

Returning a Key Item: Our First Importance Analysis

In 2024, we achieved our first goal importance analysisand working with Transition&Co to identify HomeExchange’s most important environmental, social and governance issues.

The B Corp movement encourages this kind of analysis because it ensures that a company’s CSR strategy is based on issues that are truly relevant and prioritized, not just for the company but also for its key stakeholders.

Nearly 500 people participated in this exercise (team members, the community, our investors, suppliers, and even institutions like ADEME), which allowed us to increase the team’s maturity on these issues, prioritize our impact themes, and clarify our CSR strategy.

The results highlight the importance of Security Question (Members, data, privacy), social issues (Inclusion, Diversity, Accessibility) and Carbon reductionwhile emphasizing HomeExchange’s role in promoting sustainable tourism within its ecosystem and defend its collaborative model.

This building step now guides our priorities and nourishes our reflections.

And now?

New standards are coming soon

In early 2026, after nearly four years(!) of intensive work, B Corp will change its rules. No more classic totals, you now have to respond Seven impact themesthe minimum requirements for each item:

  • governance,
  • collaborator,
  • Community,
  • client,
  • human rights,
  • environment,
  • collective action.

Until now, a score of at least 80 on the B Corp questionnaire was sufficient to obtain certification. This can create some paradoxical situations: a company that performs well in some categories but poorly in others can still be certified.

Under the new standards, every subject must meet a minimum level, which requires that no aspect be overlooked.

How about HomeExchange?

This is an opportunity to further explore new practices and consolidate existing ones. Our first priority is to train ourselves and adopt these new standards so that they become true shared management tools.

Target : Bringing more people into the team, upskilling everyone, and making the B Corp approach a more collective venture rooted in the way we work every day.

It’s not just a label, it’s a way Make progress togetherwith transparency and consistency. This is the spirit of the B Corp movement!

👍

last word

As you know, this recertification is not an end in itself, but rather another step in our B Corp adventure. The new standards mark the beginning of an even more ambitious chapter: making progress on all fronts, upskilling more team members, and continuing to explore new practices while solidifying existing ones. This is a difficult challenge and we will meet it with full enthusiasm!
