On September 26, singer Suzane released her third album: millennium. The artist’s life opens a chapter of such touching candor and sensitivity. We met her.
“This album is cash,” Susan concluded for us, speaking of millennium. Across 13 tracks, the artist talks candidly about the challenges and hopes of his generation of “millennials” (those born between the early 1980s and late 1990s), while speaking in a more personal way than ever before.
the emergence of change
millennium Among other things, it describes a generation that has lost meaning and direction. What is your benchmark?
“Music is my biggest reference. It’s my anchor, the reason I get up in the morning, the GPS of my existence. It helps me understand what’s going on, in a society where it’s hard to find your place and where we have a lot of prohibitions.”
Is this album about your own experiences, or someone else’s?
“This album has a lot of observations, questions I ask myself, situations I observe. But ultimately, it’s a very intimate album with songs like this I accuse youor Verile It talks about my relationship with femininity. or even in for lifewhich I wrote on the piano in one breath. I wanted to express the fact that life is so precious even if we don’t always understand what it requires of us. I cried many times while writing this title!
I release a little bit of myself on every album. There are even more in this one.
in broad daylight It also expresses the fact that I have finally entered a stage in my life where I dare to love without having to hide too much. I think with every album I free myself a little bit. Perhaps even more so in this one. “
Is this an album of hope or despair?
“I would say we can’t have hope without despair. There’s obviously a little bit of despair. But in the end, hope wins. Because it’s human, because it’s our instinct to survive. In a seemingly dark future, this album is an attempt at light, not embellishment. I think our generation has learned from the past and told ourselves that we have to change and break the dictates that have been imposed on us.”
What kind of life do you envision?
“I think I thought about live performance before I thought about records. I couldn’t imagine myself singing without someone in front of me! This live broadcast, I hope it is a call to the body. People want to dance, they want to move, they crave. I think it will become synonymous with rebellion: with features such as I accuse you, in broad daylight, humanoidI want to sow the seeds of resistance. I think we need to fight back now. “
