and tornadohost and columnist Adrien Devyver is preparing to make his first on the stage of Théâtre de la toison d’Or. The work is adapted from its successful book, highlighting a disease that remains stigmatized: add/h.
ADD/H is a neurodevelopmental disorder that eliminates the ability to focus, focus, motivation and even motor activities. Adrien Devyver, who is marked by the disease every day, decided to talk about it loudly on his new show.
Adrien Devyver reveals in an interview
He gave us a little while before he went to the board.
Why did you decide to do this show?
When I write a book I’m called a tornado (Editor released in 2020) I realized that my style was very rhythmic and he could live on the stage. It stays in the corner of my head. Then many people with ADD/H said to me: I really want to read your book, but I can’t focus on reading. I told myself that it was a good argument to adapt it into a theater. I started when I expected many things to change my life. I slipped the book to TTO’s artistic director Nathalie Uffner, who reminded me the next day, super enthusiastic.
I found it risky and dizzy, but I said to myself: Go ahead
Do you tell yourself immediately that you want to play your role?
No, not at all, that’s Natalie’s idea. She told me that according to her, nothing is better than I can embody the role. I found it risky and dizzy, but I said to myself: Go.
Adventure, why?
Because of this drama, I entered a universe that I didn’t know, and I put myself in danger for an hour. I found myself facing the audience, and it was not the reality of my basic job. I will talk about important and universal themes of my life, but also my life.
What are your expectations?
My goal is that people affected by the addition/H disease can recognize themselves, be affected, be inspired by their own routes. I then also see it as a strategic step in my life and an awareness of adding/H. I hope we can quickly see this disease as a complete disease in order to better take care of it in our society.
I have never felt good since I started talking about it and it is also a mastery of my illness
What is the biggest myth in Add/H that you want to deconstruct?
We tend to attribute to rudeness Because we sometimes have impulsive reactions to TDA/H people. Now, it is our brain that works like positive or negative behavior.
What is your fault with this disease?
Being with me is a trend related to how I feel. Everything needs exaggerated proportions Fascination, my relationship with my children, a simple discussion…I tend to Very bloated, without filters, which can be annoyed or tired. Then, I talked quickly, I thought quickly (this doesn’t mean I think it’s good). I tend to make hasty decisions that put me in trouble. But every TDA/H person can live in a different way.
Do you want advice for young people with TDA/H disease?
What helped me a lot was talking about it. I have never felt so good and not as good as I have mastered my illness since I started speaking and writing about this issue.
